Lessons from Liz

Liz has been a godsend to me. She came into my life exactly when I needed her. Not only has she become my right hand at work but I am also lucky to have her as a close friend and confidante. She lifts my thoughts emotionally and spiritually.

We recently attended a Solemn Novena Devotion in Honor of St. Ann at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Saint Ann in Scranton, PA. The outdoor service was very touching and Liz gave me a tour of the beautiful church afterwards. We lit remembrance candles and sat for a while reflecting in the amazingly peaceful candle room. Neither of us were in a hurry to leave.

That evening was to be the Memorial Walk commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Great Novena to Saint Ann and the Passionist Saints. Tens of thousands of people come from all over the world to this devotion. Liz explained that at midnight on July 26th, people young and old, begin walking from their own church, which could be miles away, to the Basilica to participate in the Novena to Saint Ann. People who live along the way, open their homes to those who are making the trek, allowing them to use their facilities and offering them food and water, encouragement or a place to rest. People continue to arrive and congregate at the Basilica throughout the early morning hours. The church then provides a feast.

Liz has taught me to believe in the power of prayer to St. Ann.

Prayer to Saint Ann to Obtain a Special Favor

O Glorious Saint Ann filled with compassion for those who invoke you and love for those who suffer, heavily laden with the weight of my troubles, I cast myself at your feet and humbly beg of you to take the present affair which I recommend to you under your special protection (here mention silently your intentions). Please recommend it to your daughter the Blessed Virgin Mary and lay it before the Throne of Jesus so that He may bring it to a happy issue. Please continue to interceded for me until my request is granted. Above all, obtain for me the grace of one day beholding my God face to face and with you and Mary and all the Saints praising and blessing Him for all eternity.  Amen

*Say three times
Good Saint Ann Mother of Her who is our life, our sweetness and our hope. Pray to her for us and obtain our requests.
*One Hail Mary
Good Saint Ann pray for us.
